What belongs here

Share a memory, hope, ordinary moment or photograph from your life in 2026. Be sincere, be kind and only share material you have the right and permission to make public. A real name is not required—a nickname is welcome. You may add your city, but never a street address or precise location.

One capsule is allowed per person. Each verified account can save one capsule, including one awaiting review or declined after review. Creating extra accounts to avoid this rule may result in removal.

Founding 100

The first 100 approved stories receive a permanent Founding 100 badge. Founding places follow approval order and are not reassigned when a story is removed. The badge is separate from the capsule’s current place in the gallery. Existing stories retain their original approval order.

Your private account

Supabase Auth stores your email and sends verification codes through our email provider. Your email is not shown on your capsule or in the public gallery. A secure session cookie keeps you verified for up to an hour. Your capsule is linked to your account to prevent repeat submissions. You can sign out from the submission form. Older capsules submitted before verification was introduced do not have a verified account attached.

What we do not accept

• Nudity, sexual content, fetish content or suggestive imagery—including sexualized cartoons or AI-generated images.
• Content that exploits, sexualizes or endangers a child. Never share a child’s full name, school, address or other identifying details.
• Hate speech, slurs, dehumanizing content or attacks based on identity.
• Harassment, bullying, credible threats, encouragement of violence, graphic injury or instructions for self-harm.
• Private information such as an address, phone number, email address, passwords, identification documents, financial details or precise live location.
• Photographs, writing or artwork you do not own or have permission to publish.
• Impersonation, fraud, scams, advertising, repeated promotional language, malware or attempts to manipulate the website and its safety checks.
• Profanity aimed at another person, or links that lead to prohibited, deceptive or unsafe material.

Photographs and AI-generated content

Photographs must be appropriate for a general audience and must not expose someone who reasonably expected privacy. If another identifiable person appears, you must have their permission to publish it. AI-generated or heavily altered imagery is allowed only when it is safe, lawful and not presented as proof of a real event or real person.

How review works

Automated services first check submitted words and photographs. Anything that passes remains private until a human administrator reviews it against these rules. Approval is never automatic, and passing an automated check does not guarantee publication.

Review decisions consider the whole capsule, including text visible inside a photograph and the destination of any website link. Borderline content may be declined to keep the collection safe for a broad audience. We may reject or remove content, disable abusive access, and preserve necessary review records when these rules are broken.

We check the image itself, remove embedded photo metadata such as GPS location, and save a resized copy. Images must be still JPG, PNG or WebP files under 5 MB and 25 megapixels. Rejected automated uploads are not saved to our capsule storage.

Your content and privacy

Before you press submit, your draft stays in this browser tab. On submission, your name or nickname, message, optional city, optional website and photo are sent to our server. We do not infer your city from your device or network address. OpenAI processes the text and photo for moderation when enabled, Sightengine checks photos for nudity, Cloudflare Turnstile verifies the security challenge, and Supabase stores accepted submissions and runs administrator authentication.

If approved, your name, message, optional city, optional website, photo, capsule number and submission date become public. Please do not submit anything you want to keep private. External websites can change after review and are outside our control.

We keep consent and review records. Rate limiting uses a keyed hash of a network address when our hosting setup supplies one; these counters expire after roughly two hours. We do not store raw network addresses in the capsule database. Our infrastructure and processing providers may keep their own operational records.

Administrators use a sign-in cookie for the review queue. Contributors use a separate verification cookie. We do not use marketing tracking. Verification emails confirm access to your inbox; keep your capsule receipt after submitting.

Removal and safety requests

The collection is designed to be permanent, but safety and consent come first. A capsule may be removed when it violates these rules, exposes private information, infringes someone’s rights or creates a credible safety concern. Keep your receipt: it helps establish that you submitted the capsule if you later request a review. Removing a capsule does not free the account to submit another or reassign a Founding 100 place.

A snapshot for the future

Submissions close at midnight Toronto time at the end of December 31, 2026. After closing, approved capsules remain visible and the collection becomes read-only. The project is intended for long-term preservation, but permanent availability cannot be guaranteed.
